A Chance Encounter with... Home?

It's hard to believe that living in a city like London could ever seem truly normal, but after just a few weeks here, it really does. The routine and friends certainly make the place seem like home.
On Mondays, I work. (I've written lots of articles on the website where I intern, beautyandthedirt.com, you should give the site a visit if you want to read them!)
Tuesdays, I have class.
Wednesdays are another full day of work, but I really do love it so these days fly by.
Thursdays, my busiest day, I go to work in the morning and class in the afternoon.
Lastly, Fridays are the day that I use to explore London, catch up on sleep, or do that pesky homework...
All of these days, although routine, are so exciting. The city just brings a new life to everything. There is always something to do, and there is always somewhere you can go!
Katie and I often end up at Amorino. It is the cutest gelato shop that shapes your gelato into flowers, but we get the gelato filled macarons. They're to die for. There are 13 in the city of London, and we are hoping to make it to all of them by the time we come home! (We've already hit 3, so I don't expect it to be too hard..)

I mean, look at those! How could you not be addicted?
Katie and I took our first solo trip to Cambridge two weekends ago.

Cambridge is the ultimate college town. There are 31 colleges in this town of about 100,000. It was such an interesting town to explore. There seems to be a school on every corner.
Our day was cold and rainy. (Surprise Surprise, That seems to be all days in England)
However, that didn't stop us from having a great time. We walked through the city, met delightful people in the various shops, and went on a "punting tour."

Punting usually involves a flat bottomed boat that is rowed using a wooden pole. With blankets, we were cozy even despite the cold.
For the rest of the day, we walked the city, saw universities, and went to the market. One of the cathedrals even held a first edition of the King James Bible! We thought the day was a perfect experience to prepare for all the trips we'd be taking in the future. We took the train, found where we were going, picked places to eat (which is the biggest feat of them all for Katie and I), and we did it all on our own... with a little help from Google Maps.
We came home that night, especially thankful for the bustling city that is London. I pinch myself when I remember that I live here. I'd be sure it was a dream, except staying up to watch the NFL playoffs and Superbowl give me a day or two of exhaustion so I am confident I am awake. (Absolutely worth it! Ava, my flatmate, is a huge Eagles fan, so we have been rooting for them since the Titans were eliminated. Go Eagles!)
Thank you for all your sweet comments! I love reading them, and I hope to get better about replying soon! (and posting more, but there is just so much to do that it's much harder than I thought it would be...) Please continue to pray for our safety. I know I appreciate it, and I know my mom and dad do too.
Lots of Love,
Shelly
