A Chance Encounter with.... a Splash
For our last stop of spring break, we wanted to go somewhere warm so we headed south to the Canary Islands. Immediately when we got off the plane and could feel the difference in temperatures. The sun was out, and it gave us a nice taste of heat we needed after being in grey London, Arctic Finland, and freezing Berlin.
We started out the day at breakfast where we ate plates full of fresh fruit. It was the perfect added touch to the tropical environment.

From breakfast, Katie and I went to yoga overlooking the beach. This was the perfect way to start the day. Afterwards, we met our friends by the pool where we stayed for most of the day. With views like these, can you blame me?

We went on the hunt for the best view of the sunset later that night.

The next day, we got ready, laid out in the sun for a short bit and explored the island where we were staying. The Canary Islands have beautiful volcanoes and black sand beaches so we had several photo ops.

At one point, I was taking Ava's pictures when we were demolished by one of the larger waves. I didn't originally plan on getting in the ocean, but after that splash, why not!

The Canary Islands are beautiful. They have such a different vibe than most beaches. It is much more rugged than the other lush islands I've seen and imagined. The people were kind and helpful, and our stay was delightful.
This stop was the perfect place for me to relax and get caught up on work. It was so nice to get the true spring weather we would be having if we were back at home, and it was exactly the relaxation we needed before we got back to the London grind!

The semester is officially halfway over, but it seems as if we arrived just yesterday. Homesickness definitely comes in waves here and there, but I am so thankful for the incredible experiences I have had so far. I cannot wait to see where the rest of the semester takes me!
Lots of Love,
Shelly
